Mountain biking around Haaksbergen
With the new mountain bike route, Haaksbergen has yet another fantastic recreational opportunity.
The 60-kilometer route is a challenging route, which both experienced people and beginners can enjoy. Also fantastic single-track possibilities. At the park there is a possibility to spray the bicycles. There is also the possibility to safely store your bicycles in a locked shed. The route has been gauged and there are several nodes so that the route can be shortened. An overview card with additional information and a code of conduct is available at our reception for € 1.

This year, Museum Buurtspoorweg offers the possibility to drive with their motor vehicle of the “Wismar” type, which has been put back into service after twelve years of restoration. This type of motor vehicle was built in Germany in the 1930s for railway lines where passenger transport was unprofitable. The technology was based on buses and trucks, hence the name “railbus”. Until the 1950s, a Wismarer rail bus ran to Enschede from Ahaus in Germany.
Reservations are not required but are recommended. Reservations can be made by telephone on 053 5721516 or by email email@example.com
Within walking distance of the park. This is the last double wheel watermill still in use. During high season, demonstrations of grinding and baking bread are given in the old-fashioned Bakspieker on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons.
De Buurser pot
The ‘Buurser pot’ is part of ‘Landgoed het Lankheet’ and is a small flat-bottomed vessel that in earlier times transported about 1.5 tons of cargo between Ahaus and Deventer in Germany. Everything was transported: butter, cheese, eggs, salt, vinegar, oil, herring, stockfish, syrup, brandy, linseed and hemp seeds, tear, peat, tar, textiles, charcoal and paper. An important product from Germany was the so-called “poteted”, white clay for the pottery industry in Deventer.
This type of boat sailed on the ‘Schipbeek’ and ‘Buurserbeek’ from the 15th century to the first half of the 19th century. The pot was boomed, pulled and sailed where possible. With the arrival of better roads and rails, shipping on these brooks disappeared. The construction of a replica of the ‘Buurser pot’ brings an almost forgotten history back to life. The ‘Buurser pot’ sails from mid-April to October from the jetty near the Oostendorper Watermill towards the Harreveldse sconce, a former defensive work near Buurse, back and forth in a boat trip lasting more than an hour.
It is also possible to book a golf package. This is in collaboration with the beautiful golf center ‘t Langeloo, which is 200 meters away from our park.
